나무 그릇 만들기, 단풍나무 다듬기

공방에 참나무와 단풍나무 자투리 나무들이 있습니다.


이 자투리로 어떤 소품을 만들 수 있을까 고민하고 있습니다.

우선, 책에서 본 나무 그릇을 만들어 볼까 하여 하나를 골랐고


대패질을 해 보았습니다.

넓은 면은 자동대패기로 우선 초벌 대패질을 한 다음

옆면과 절단면, 위와 아래 모두 손으로 대패질 해서 마무리 했습니다.

스탠리 대패를 써 보았는데 아직 손에 익숙하지 않습니다.

얼마 전에 새로 마련한 작은 대패로 마무리 했습니다. 나무가 워낙 좋은 데다 날을 잘 갈아 두어서인지 면치 참 매끄럽습니다.

There are bulks of small maples, oaks .

I'm going to make something with them. So, I chose a piece of maple wood and planed it.

At first, I used bench top planer for basic setup. And then, I planed with hand planes.

Stanley, the new arrival western style one, was strange for me. Adjustment method was unfamiliar to me. It was easier to use Korean traditional one - it is called as Japanese plane internationally- and It was good. Surface was like marble stone and grain was beautiful. Anyway, new stanley plane was enough for finishing the surface.

Today's work was satisfying. Wide upper and bottom surfaces, left and right sides, rip cut surfaces were planed clearly.
Because maple is nice material to work and I sharpened plane knives well enough to clean the surface few days ago.
